Summer in Downtown New Port Richey kicks off with a bang, literally. Before July even starts, the city throws its biggest patriotic party of the year right across the street from The Central on Orange Lake, and the rest of the month keeps the momentum going.

The City of New Port Richey kicks off Pasco County’s America 250 celebration in Sims Park with bounce houses and water slides, face painting, food trucks, live entertainment, a hot dog and watermelon eating contest, and a Captain America costume contest. It all ends with fireworks over Orange Lake, and residents of The Central have front-row seats.

The morning after, paddlers launch from James E. Grey Preserve and make their way down the river to Sims Park. If you keep a kayak or paddleboard in The Central’s storage, this is the morning to use it.

The monthly open-air Fourth Friday Bazaar fills Downtown’s streets with local artisans, makers and small businesses, part of the Downtown District supported by New Port Richey Main Street. Walk over after dinner and make a night of it.

The Red, White & Blue Hometown Extravaganza is Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 4 to 9 PM at Sims Park, ending with fireworks over Orange Lake.

Over Orange Lake, at the close of the Hometown Extravaganza.

Friday, July 24, from 6 to 10 PM in Downtown New Port Richey.

Summer Downtown is better when the fireworks are across the street.
